As the weather grows colder and the holidays approach, images of home, family, and togetherness come to mind. But for one 6-month old puppy named Mac, the home he knew and the family he had, brought no such feelings of comfort or safety.
I am the Director of the San Diego Humane Society and SPCA’s Humane Law Department, and I’d like to share Mac’s story. Mac was the victim of physical abuse inflicted by his owner - the very person who was supposed to protect him, and be his family.
But Mac’s is not a sad story, only a sad beginning, and at the San Diego Humane Society, we see sad beginnings for what they really are: an opportunity to create a happy ending.
We invite you to view the video we created to tell Mac’s story.

Thanks to the life-changing support of animal-loving friends like
you, we were able to provide Mac with the veterinary care,
rehabilitation and ongoing love he needs to recover and await his new
home. He’ll be available for adoption in the New Year and can’t wait to
start his new life with a loving family.
Please consider a
year-end gift to the San Diego Humane Society and SPCA so that more
animals like Mac can have a second chance…a chance to write a happy
ending to their story. If you have already made your holiday gift to
the animals, thank you again for your compassion and kindness.
All of the animals and people served by the San Diego Humane Society
and SPCA join me in expressing heartfelt appreciation for your support!
Happy Holidays!
Randall Lawrence Director of Humane Law Enforcement
P.S. Please share this touching holiday story with your animal-loving friends!
