Does my registration fee count towards my fundraising total?

Yes! Your registration fee, although it is not tax-deductible, does count towards your overall fundraising total. Therefore it also counts towards earning prizes.

Can I bring my pets?

Friendly, on-leash dogs are welcome. Please keep in mind that over 1,000 dogs will be in attendance, so we do not recommend bringing other types of pets.

Can I bring my children and can they participate?

The Walk for Animals is a family-friendly event and children are welcome in all areas.  All participants must register online or by printed form.  Youth participants are also welcome to fundraise.

What if I cannot attend the Walk but I want to raise funds for the animals?

Attendance on the day of the Walk is not required. If you cannot attend, you may still register online as a Cat Napper and use the website tools to raise funds, or use a printed pledge form to raise money. Registered Cat Nappers will receive a Commemorative 2014 Walk for Animals T-shirt in the mail after the walk. Send cash, checks and forms to: San Diego Humane Society and SPCA, ATTN: Walk for Animals, 5500 Gaines Street, San Diego, CA 92110.

What do I do with the cash and checks that I collect?

We will mail a Registered Walker packet to each participant who registers by April 25th.

Walkers who register on or after April 26th can pick up their packets at the San Diego Humane Society's Central Campus (located at 5500 Gaines Street in San Diego). Packets will be available for pick-up Tuesday, May 6th through Friday, May 9th between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. or on Saturday, May 10th at the Walk for Animals starting at 7 a.m.

Enclosed in the Registration Packet, among other items, will be a Pledge Envelope.  Please bring the envelope with all cash and checks to the Walk. If you receive cash or checks after the walk, please drop off or mail the donations in a clearly marked envelope to: San Diego Humane Society, Attn: Walk, 5500 Gaines Street, San Diego, CA 92110.

How do I add cash and checks to my online total?

If you would like to add the cash or checks you receive to your donation total on your walk page, follow these instructions: Go to your “Participant Center.” Click on “Progress.”  Click on the link “Enter a new gift” on the right sidebar. The next page that comes up will allow you to enter check and cash gifts.

How are prizes awarded to team members?

Team members qualify for individual fundraising prizes based on their individual fundraising achievements. Team members are encouraged to register and raise money on their own. If a team raises money together by holding a team event (such as a bake sale), an SDHS Walk administrator can apply the proceeds to the Team fundraising total or proceeds can be applied to each of the team member's individual fundraising totals. Please email walk@sdhumane.org or call (619) 243-3493 for assistance.

How do I print out my gift history list?

In your Participant Center, Click on “Progress” and then click "Download personal donation list" under Donations History at the bottom of the page. Bring this along with you to the Walk as proof of your online donations.

This is my first time fundraising, do you have any tips?

Yes! Visit our Fundraising Tips page for fundraising ideas for both new and returning walkers.

What do I do if I did not receive my Registered Walker Packet in the mail or I registered after April 25?

Walkers who register on or after April 26th can pick up their packets at the San Diego Humane Society's Central Campus (located at 5500 Gaines Street in San Diego). Packets will be available for pick-up Tuesday, May 6th through Friday, May 9th between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. or on Saturday, May 10th at the Walk for Animals starting at 7 a.m.  Please bring the envelope with all cash and checks to the Walk.
