The San Diego Humane Society and SPCA uses its former location at Sherman Street to temporarily house animals transferred from other humane societies and animal control facilities within and outside of San Diego County.
The Sherman Street Transfer Program helps save an additional 1,300 animals each year that might otherwise be euthanized in highly populated shelters. This is just another way the San Diego Humane Society strives to save the life of every adoptable animal.
In addition to the Sherman Street Transfer Program, the Sherman Street facility (where the Humane Society was located from 1951 to 2003 and which is no longer open to the public) also houses the Humane Society’s Mobile Adoptions Program, Foster Care Program and Animal Rescue Reserve.
Donate with confidence! The San Diego Humane Society and SPCA is nationally recognized for fiscal responsibility by Charity Navigator with its highest Four-Star Rating and was also awarded the Better Business Bureau Torch Award for Marketplace Ethics.
