Pet Store Ordinance to Target Puppy Mills
The San Diego Humane Society is excited to be working with a number of animal welfare groups to propose a pet store ordinance in San Diego to impact puppy mills. If passed, San Diego will be the 32nd city in North America to have such a ban. As our president Gary Weitzman says, "The passing of this ordinance would be a very important step forward for animals that are sourced from puppy mills and other large-scale, irresponsible breeding sources." This ordinance will be presented to the San Diego City Council in the coming weeks.

AFFORDABLE SPAY-NEUTER SERVICES
NOW AVAILABLE!
To help fight pet overpopulation and for the good health of animals, we are now offering a number of programs to assist with spaying and neutering pets in our community. These resources provide subsidized or affordable spay/neuter surgeries to individuals who meet the eligibility requirements based on income. The program also aims to target specific animal populations that are at the highest risk for overpopulation, like pit bulls and feral cats.
