Dare to BULL-ieve…in Pit Bulls
San Diego Humane Society, San Diego County Department of Animal Services and Chula Vista Animal Care Facility Celebrate Pit Bulls in Honor of National Adopt-a-Shelter Dog Month
SAN DIEGO - October 3, 2012 - October is National Adopt-a-Shelter Dog month, and the San Diego Humane Society, the San Diego County Department of Animal Services and the Chula Vista Animal Care Facility is celebrating its pit bull companions all month long with special events and activities. “Dare to BULL-ieve” will celebrate the love and companionship of the pit bull. Throughout October, the San Diego Humane Society is waiving adoption fees for pit bull mixes, offering other special incentives, resources and events to celebrate the misunderstood breed and encourage responsible pit bull ownership.
“Pit bull breeds tend to remain in our care longer than other dog breeds, at no fault of their own. Our pit bulls receive personalized training during their time at the shelter, so that when they get adopted, they’re ready to be an amazing member of the family,” said Dr. Gary Weitzman, president and CEO of the San Diego Humane Society and SPCA. “The purpose of this pit bull campaign is to help everyone see what loving companions pit bulls can make when given the right training, care and environment. We hope to also reinforce the bond between pit bulls and their owners, while promoting pit bull adoptions.”
Adoption Fees for all pit bull mixes will be waived during the month of October at the following animal shelters:
