Fighting Feline Obesity
While some may think fat cats are cute, medical professionals say obesity is a serious condition that will affect an animals health and happiness.
Angelo weighed 26 pounds when he was relinquished to San Diego Humane Society. Dr. Danielle Clem, Hospital Director for our San Diego Campus, says a cat like Angelo should weigh 14-16 pounds. Angelo will need a special home with people who will help get him on a healthy diet and exercise program.
Since coming to SDHS, Angelo has lost half a pound. Dr. Clem hopes Angelo's story will help educate people that letting animals get obese is not cute, but a serious medical condition.
