It’s Volunteer Appreciation Week, and as we celebrate all of our dedicated, selfless volunteers this week, I’m reminded of all the ways our entire community comes together to protect animals and support the mission of San Diego Humane Society. Whether you contribute your time and talents through volunteering, or are an Adoption Partner transferring animals to give them a better chance at finding a home, or simply through adopting a pet, everyone plays a role in inspiring compassion throughout our region.
This year, we’re on the brink of increasing the number of animals we help, from 30,000 to more than 50,000, and we can’t do it without you. We’re embarking on an opportunity to expand our mission to protect more animals and serve the community throughout San Diego County. So while our hearts are always overflowing with admiration and gratitude for our volunteers, Adoption Partners, donors and adopters, right now your support means so much more.
Know that whatever your role is…your work saves lives. It doesn’t matter how or where you show up for animals all that matters is that you do. Animals and people benefit tremendously every single time. Today San Diego Humane Society’s safety net of services for people and animals is the strongest it’s ever been in our 138-year history, all thanks to you.
We still need your help in contacting elected officials to ensure animals get the best possible care come July 1, 2018. On this page, you’ll find tools to help you communicate with city officials, family, friends and neighbors. Whether you send a letter to your City Councilmember, post about San Diego Humane Society on social media or speak at a City Council hearing, your efforts and show of support will be critical in the Council’s final vote in the coming weeks. If at any time you have questions, please email us at [email protected]
On behalf of the countless animals that are alive and thriving today, the thousands of people whose own lives are better because of their animals, and all of us at San Diego Humane Society, thank you for being an animal advocate, in whatever form that takes. Your efforts are changing lives.
