Thunder is “a dream dog”!

Animal ID: 264177

Volunteer: Robert M.

Thunder lived in a home for 8 years before his family moved and was unable to bring him with them. While this is always a heartbreaking scenario for us to see, we were able to get a lot of helpful background information about the sweet boy that we are hopeful will help us find him a perfect new family. For instance, we know that some of his favorite things are going for rides, going on walks and playing ball. We also know that he is house-trained, very easy-going, affectionate and loyal. In fact, he was described as “a dream dog” and “perfect” by his former family.

Canine Companion volunteer, Robert, shares this high regard for the gentle giant and tells us more about Thunder and why he’s chosen him as his volunteer pick…

What do you like best about his personality?
“Thunder is very calm and well-mannered. Seniors really are the best pets!”

What first drew you to your pick?
“Thunder was very easy to handle, and well-behaved both in and out of his kennel.”

Is there something special about the way your pick looks?
“His mix of German Shepherd and Lab looks quite unique. He’s very handsome.”

What is his coolest/silliest/most unique trait?
“Thunder will sit down or lay down when out on a walk, if you are stopping for any reason – it’s really funny. He also likes to shake hands, even when not given that command. It’s all very endearing!”

Anything else you’d like to add?
“Thunder walks great on leash, and knows many basic commands. He loves being around people, and is social and friendly with everyone he meets. He’s just an all-around great dog.”

Thunder is available for adoption at our Oceanside Campus. Come on by and meet this staff & volunteer favorite today!
