“I like it better here where I can sit just quietly and smell the flowers.” ~ Ferdinand the Bull
Like the big, strong bull in the classic children’s book, our Ferdinand – the pit bull – has a sweet and gentle heart. Click here to watch a special video starring Ferdinand!
The 2-year old American Staffordshire Terrier is deaf, and because of this, he can sometimes be a little wary of strangers and become startled by people peering at him in his habitat (not unlike the storybook character when he sits on a bee!). This can give people the wrong impression about him, when in actuality he is very sweet and friendly. So we decided to move him to a location that is not public, so that he can feel more calm and comfortable.
Ferdinand has a history of doing very well with kids in the home, though because of his deafness and size, any kids should be sturdy & respectful. Ferdinand is house-trained, knows “sit” and “down” (responds well to hand gestures), does well in the car and at the vet, loves running, and generally plays very well with other dogs, although a dog-to-dog introduction will be necessary for any home currently with a dog. Ferdinand is not recommended for a home with cats because, though we’ve not seen aggressive tendencies, he does tend to pull toward them on occasion and we think he’d likely chase them.
Give sweet Ferdinand a chance to show you that there is much more to him than meets the eye!
