Animals Are My Passion and My Pets Are My Children
I adopted my first cat Kiki at Sherman Street in 1988. I had just broken up with a boyfriend that hated cats. I can’t believe I dated a guy who didn’t like cats. This was my first interaction with the Society which was awesome. The whole adoption process was great – they sent me home with a carrier, a bed, a little bit of dried food. They followed up with a phone call just to make sure everything was okay and to see if I needed anything. I was completely and totally in love with this cat. I adopted another cat a few years later, Miesha from the Humane Society – an eight week tiger tabby and again, I fell in love. I decided to leave an estate gift because I am single and animals are my passion and my pets are my children. I love the work that the Humane Society does and think it is amazing that the Society has the planned giving program because it makes my heart happy knowing that that money – regardless of the amount of it – will do the animals good.
