Humane Leaders’ Circle

Ensuring San Diego County is the best place for animals and the people who love them.

San Diego Humane Society’s Humane Leaders’ Circle is a passionate and dynamic group of animal loving neighbors committed to saving and improving the lives of the most vulnerable animals in our community.

San Diego Humane Society is a leader in providing innovative services, allowing us to achieve Getting to Zero and ensuring that no healthy or treatable animals are at risk of euthanasia in San Diego County.

What’s the Challenge?

Our commitment is not just to stay at Zero, but to continue expanding the impact we have locally and across the country. Whether preventing cruelty/neglect, providing low-cost community spay/neuter, rehabilitating wildlife or providing safety net services for all pet families needing assistance with keeping their pets, San Diego Humane Society is committed to meeting the varied needs of animals and the people who love them.

Humane Leaders’ Circle members share this commitment, and will help us make sure we have the veterinary, dietary, behavioral and care resources that are needed by the nearly 30,000 animals we take in this year.

How Can We Help?

Generous donor support provides approximately 70% of our budget each year. This giving makes possible everything we do possible, such as:

  • Every companion animal we place in a loving home is spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and provided the highest level of care while they are in our shelters – costing approximately $1,300 per dog or cat.
  • Impacting over 67,000 animals last year, from dog, cat and pig adoptions, to raccoon rehabilitation, to spaying our community’s pets and more, we are here for San Diego’s animals – with a cost of $45,000 daily in shelter animal care expenses alone.
  • Serving as a safety net for those in need to keep them with the animals they love.

How Can You Help?

All gifts made through the Humane Leaders’ Circle will directly support these incredible, lifesaving programs. Each dollar ensures that no healthy or treatable animal in San Diego Animal Welfare Coalition organizations will be in danger of euthanasia – whether a companion animal or wildlife. As an HLC donor, you’ll be raising the profile of San Diego Humane Society and its life-saving work in the community, and contributing to keep San Diego one of the pet-safest communities in the nation.

Humane Leaders’ Circle donors share the distinction of being the Humane Society’s most generous annual contributors, giving $2,500 or more each year.

HLC donors will receive exclusive communications, donor wall recognition, be invited to informative events and will connect with other members who share a passion for saving vulnerable animals.
