Pet-Assisted Therapy Volunteers
Want to get involved?
San Diego Humane Society’s Pet-Assisted Therapy program brings the joy of animal companionship to over 15,000 people in care facilities such as senior living communities, mental health centers, care programs for adults and children with disabilities and juvenile detention centers annually. Our program also reaches college and corporate groups for de-stress activities.
Volunteers work as a team to transport animals to offsite locations, facilitate client-animal interactions and act as ambassadors for San Diego Humane Society by sharing information about our programs and services with the public.
New volunteers are typically recruited on an as needed basis. Interested community members can apply online and attend a Community Engagement Volunteer Info Session to learn more about our organization and see if this role will be a good fit for them.
