Tests conducted on rabbits, mice, rats and guinea pigs place the profits of companies making lipstick, deodorant, shampoo and other products over the lives of these animals. To think that animal experiments are still legal in the United States in 2020, when non-animal alternatives already exist, is heartbreaking. Thankfully, our friends and colleagues at the Humane Society of the United States have sponsored legislation to put an end to this inhumane practice.
Will you email your Representative today and urge them to support the Humane Cosmetics Act?
This bill would end cosmetics testing on animals in the United States. Nearly 40 countries and three states have banned this archaic practice, including Australia, New Zealand, Norway, Switzerland, Israel, India, every country in the European Union, as well as California, Illinois and Nevada. And for the first time, the cosmetics industry joined us in supporting this legislation enhancing its possible passage.

Dear Congressmember [Last Name],
Please join your San Diego area colleagues Representatives Levin and Davis in supporting the humane treatment of animals by co-authoring H.R. 5141, the Humane Cosmetics Act.
Animals in the U.S. continue to suffer and die in experiments to test cosmetics like lipstick, deodorant and shampoo. The Humane Cosmetics Act (H.R. 5141) will end this unnecessary cruelty by prohibiting animal testing for all cosmetic products manufactured or sold in the U.S.
Alternatives to animal testing already exist: Humane, safe cosmetics can be created using thousands of existing ingredients, and several non-animal methods are already available to test new ingredients. These advanced scientific technologies are often cheaper, faster and more relevant to humans making them more reliable predictors of safety than archaic animal tests.
Your support of this landmark legislation is so greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,
