San Diego Humane Society will be closed on Sunday, March 31 in observance of the Easter holiday. We will reopen for normal business hours on Tuesday, April 2 at 10 a.m.
To report an animal emergency, please contact 619-299-7012 (press 1).
If you find a stray animal over the holiday, please visit our Lost & Found page for assistance.
If you find an injured or ill wild animal, please bring them to our Bahde Wildlife Center or Ramona Wildlife Center between 9 a.m.-5 p.m. daily. Before capturing a wild animal, please review this information to ensure intervention is needed.
All San Diego Humane Society campuses (including San Diego, El Cajon, Escondido and Oceanside locations) have temporarily paused the intake of owner-surrender dogs until April 4, 2024, except in emergencies that threaten the health of the pet. We are also requesting that all relinquishments of other species be made by appointment only.
With our campuses over capacity, we are asking our community to help reduce the number of animals entering our shelters. Finders of lost pets are strongly encouraged to participate in our Wait 48 or StrayCare programs, which allow community members to care for stray animals in their homes while effforts are made to find their owner.
We understand this is a challenging situation and are here to help. We offer a wide range of tools and resources that can help you hold on to your pet in the meantime, or help you rehome them directly to an adopter. Please browse our available resources and contact us to let us know how we can help.
Thank you for your understanding.
