Adoptions are completed in person on a first-come, first-served basis. Once you have found an animal you’re interested in, please visit the appropriate campus during business hours to speak with an adoption counselor.

By clicking the "Adopt me" button in a pet's profile, you can set up an account on Adopets, which will help you complete your adoption paperwork more quickly when you visit us in person. You'll also receive an email with helpful tips before you arrive. Please note: Clicking "Adopt Me" does not place a "hold" on an animal or guarantee an adoption. Review our adoption process for more detailed information.

San Diego Humane Society has a variety of pets available for adoption including cats, dogs and small animals like rats, rabbits, hamsters, birds, reptiles and more. To filter your search results, choose a location, species, sex, age and/or size. You can also search using an animal's name or identification number, if you have it.

If you are having trouble seeing available pets, please be sure your web browser is not blocking pop-ups.
