Humane Officers Seize 84 Birds from Small Apartment
Wednesday morning, our Humane Officers seized 80+ birds from a one-bedroom apartment in Rancho Bernardo. Most of the birds were cockatiels flying freely inside the unit, living in unsanitary conditions. Case officers Beverly Fitzgerald and Julie Gervais-Brinegar, as well as five
other Humane Offers, were on scene removing the birds. We also had Dr. John Enyart and Project Wildlife Director Lauren Dubois there, examining each bird in a mobile unit. For the safety of the animals and our staff, the birds are in quarantine at the San Diego Campus. They will be monitored by our medical team for any type of disease.
