Pig on His Way to New Life Thanks to Care
A Vietnamese Potbelly pig had a going-away party at San Diego Campus. Piggie Smallz came to us a few months ago, in need of medical and behavior care.
Dr. Daniel Barbour stepped up to foster the young pig for two months, not only treating his various medical issues, but also teaching him not to be shy and fearful. Piggie Smallz was sent to Friends of Ferdinand, a rescue that will help him find a home he can thrive in and cater to his needs as a pig.
Staff gathered in one of the play yards to say goodbye – and to give Piggie Smallz a farewell watermelon. San Diego Humane Society saw about 40 pigs last year; Dr. Barbour hopes Piggie Smallz can show people how wonderful pigs can be as pets, when given the right care.
